Inspired by the ancient land of the Khazars, Kuzari is a unique
embroidery project in Jerusalem's exotic Bukharan Quarter. This
once - elegant Quarter settled in the late 1800's by wealthy Jewish
immigrants from Bukhara, Samarkand and Afghanistan, in central Asia,
is now an extraordinary combination of ethnic groups. Kuzari brings
together three generations of women in a magnificent newly renovated
turn of the century building. These women are discovering their
rich cultural heritage and bringing back to life the vibrant colours,
exotic patterns and familiar symbols of Sephardi Jewery. Kuzari
has now grown into an autonomous company which sells to many shops
in Israel and abroad. Come and look around in Kuzari today. You
will find a dazzling array of handmade textiles, embroidered pillow
cases, wall hangings, decorative pieces and ceremonial items for
home and for the synagogue.
